Brooke Scharfstein has proudly served Fulton County Schools for twenty years as a teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal. Most recently, she has served as the Principal of State Bridge Crossing Elementary where she leads with a strong commitment to academic excellence, relationship-building, and continuous improvement. Ms. Scharfstein has demonstrated a passion for empowering teachers, supporting student growth, and creating inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, her focus on data-informed instruction, and her ability to build strong partnerships with families and the broader school community.

Ms. Scharfstein holds a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education and a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from Georgia Southern University. She also earned both a Master of Education and Specialist of Education in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University.

Ms. Scharfstein enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, David, and their three children, Payton, Bella, and Darcy. Additionally, she is an avid reader, fan of live music, and college football enthusiast.

Mr. McNamara attended Fulton County Schools and graduated from Northview High School. He earned degrees in Special Education and Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southern University, as well as a Tier 1 Leadership certification from the University of North Georgia.

He taught Special Education, General Education, and TAG for eight years at River Trail and Autrey Mill Middle Schools, earning Johns Creek Special Education Teacher of the Year honors in 2014 and Teacher of the Year finalist recognition in 2017.  As a member of Johns Creek High School, he was named Professional of the Year in 2021. He currently serves as the 8th Grade Assistant Principal at Autrey Mill, where he is committed to helping students reach their full potential and successfully transition to high school.

When he’s not at school, he enjoys making memories with his wife and three daughters. Much of his free time is spent coaching his daughters lacrosse teams and supporting their many activities. He’s also an avid Star Wars fan who enjoys hiking, woodworking, and just about anything related to sports.

A native of Alabama, Ms. Hurt has called Fulton County home since 2007. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Tuskegee University and initiated her career in education as a high school English teacher through the non-profit organization Teach for America. Ms. Hurt earned her master’s degree in Language and Literacy Instruction and later a Specialist in Educational Leadership with Tier II certification from Georgia State University. She brings over 20 years of educational experience to Autrey Mill Middle School, having previously served as an Instructional Coach, Program Specialist, elementary and secondary Assistant Principal. Ms. Hurt is a lifelong literacy lover and guided by her deep belief in the limitless potential of all learners. As a leader she aims to ensure a thriving community that centers joy, excellence and a commitment to continuous improvement. Ms. Hurt is thrilled to join the Autrey Mill team and work in partnership with the larger community. Outside of work, she enjoys creating memories with her family, trying new recipes, and spoiling her fur babies, Shuri and Chase.

Ms. Kyle brings more than 15 years of experience in education, having served as a Speech-Language Pathologist, Instructional Support Teacher, and most recently, Assistant Principal at State Bridge Crossing Elementary, where she has spent the past decade cultivating a culture of excellence, belonging, and success for students, staff, and families.

Ms. Kyle earned her Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Georgia and holds both a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from Purdue University.

She is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture, empowering educators, and ensuring that every student is provided with the support and opportunities needed to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Outside of school, Ms. Kyle enjoys spending time with her husband, Brett, and their two children, Bennett and Ellie. As a busy sports family, they can often be found bouncing between baseball diamonds and soccer fields, cheering one another on from the stands.
